The Lela Tunic In Lawn

Craftsy, Cotton + Steel and a sale equals one happy Carolanne!

I received an email from Craftsy that they were having a sale on all kits and I took full advantage! Ever since One Week One Pattern I’ve been wanting to make a tunic similar to Coco in a woven fabric and the Lela Tunic had the fun element of a separate yoke piece and the kit came in two different Cotton + Steel fabrics!

The kit came with the Lela pattern which is worth $16.95 and 3 yards of Hatbox Lawn in Navy worth $41.85. With the discount applied I only paid $29 for the kit! I kind of regret not buying it in both color ways just so I’d have the other fabric for my stash. This is my 7th time using a Cotton + Steel fabric and I just keep loving them more and more!

I also got a Chambray top kit with 2 yards of Robert Kaufman fabric and a Butterick pattern. I was just in it for the fabric to make my Archer muslin but more on that another day!

The pattern construction was very straight forward and came together in a morning. The only change I made was to not use the hem facings pieces. I wanted to save as much of the fabric as I could because I’d like to make a mini tunic for Julia out of it. The hem facing pieces needed to be cut on the fold and in my opinion they took up a lot of space. To each their own right?

My tunic is a tiny bit too wide, not so much that I’ve done anything about it but enough that if I make it again I’ll cut one size smaller.

I made a matching headband so I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of this outfit.
