I was blown away by the pattern hack on the Anna dress by Finch Sewing Studio! I knew I had to get my hands on some of Alison Glasses’ new fabric line and when I saw the Anna dress hack I knew they were a match made in sewing heaven. The V neck version with the V’s? What could be better suited.
After my order was mistakenly shipped to Kentucky I received it just in the nick of time to finalize my dress for Christmas Day. Oddly, New England had an unseasonable warm Christmas Day which made this light weight quilting cotton (that feels more like a voile to me) the perfect fabric for my Christmas dress. These pictures were taken at my Aunts house and I wasn’t even cold without my sweater.
I ordered four yards which ended up not being quite enough so I had to take a little bit of width off of each pattern piece of the skirt and in my opinion you can’t even tell! The only other change I made was to finish the neckline with bias binding instead of the facing. I think that the facing sits perfectly well on the slash neck version but on my other V neck version I wasn’t completely thrilled with how it lays so I changed it up!
My one regret with this dress is that I was under a bit of a time crunch and only had one one invisible zipper that was long enough and its pink, and it wasn’t my my best insertion so you can see a bit of it. I think I’ll take it out and replace with a dark gray before the warmer months come.
