This dress was actually the first garment I made in 2015 and has been 100% done since January. Although this dress is in constant rotation (I think because of my immense love of this fabric), I had some issues with it that have taken me until this summer to address. Advertisements
Remember back last October when I had Nani Iro envy? After all the effort that went into tracking down this fabric, it took me 10 months to use it! As I’m sure fellow fabric hoarders will understand, it was just too precious to cut right into. The perfect plan had to be devised.
I purchased this silk voile in October with the intent to make a Lonsdale dress. By the time I got around to making it in February I realized I didn’t have enough and emailed Alice at Backstitch* to see if they had any more. Alas, the line had been discontinued and I couldn’t find it anywhere else. So, what to do when life hands you not enough fabric? Make another version of a dress you love!
If you’ve been reading my blog with any sort of regularity you already know how much I love the Elisalex bodice; it’s become a true TNT for me over the last 2 years. And now, the Anna pattern is quickly becoming one as well!
I was blown away by the pattern hack on the Anna dress by Finch Sewing Studio! I knew I had to get my hands on some of Alison Glasses’ new fabric line and when I saw the Anna dress hack I knew they were a match made in sewing heaven. The V neck version with the V’s? What could be better suited.
