…they are meant to be on dresses!
If you’ve been following my blog at all you know I love the Elisalex bodice from By Hand London. I’ve made each sleeve variation, with the sleevless being my favorite.
I’m a firm believer that directions are there for a reason, in life and in sewing! If a sign says road closed you won’t drive down it and if a pattern says use a facing, you do right? For me this is a huge grey area.
The title of this post is my favorite quote from Lady Edith, which seemed fitting for my Elisalex bodice, gathered skirt combination using the Downton Abbey Dusty Blue Edith’s Swirl from Andover Fabrics. I really love the Elisalex bodice, the princess seams are just incredible flattering and comfortable, is there a better combination? I’ve now made it in long sleeve, sleeveless and short sleeve!
One of my favorite bloggers, Diary Of A Chain Stitcher, created the most lovely dress from the Elisalex top and a circle skirt. Inspired by her and with my new Flora pattern waiting to be cut, I set to work. The ladies at By Hand London call their pattern hacks love childs so I’ve decided to name my love child, The Floralex.
